Our Products

Kermit Chair Company produces hand made wooden packable furniture, engineered for resilience and adventure, staying true to our foundational 1984 design. Each piece is crafted from your choice of white oak or black walnut,  sealed with a high-grade polyurethane finish for longevity.

For the original light-grained appearance and maximum toughness,  American white oak wood provides a stronger frame with natural abrasion resistance. Alternatively, American black walnut wood is prized for it’s dark and refined aesthetic with superior strength to weight ratio.  Our furniture is designed to work just as well in your living room as it does out in nature.

All our products are created to blend luxury with packability.  Each item breaks down into a compact carrying case for easy transportation. We continue to have a deep commitment to quality craftsmanship, ensuring that you are investing in an heirloom-quality lifetime companion.

Our History

Before 1984, there didn’t exist a light and sturdy camping chair that was small enough for the back of a motorcycle.  Kermit Easterling, a BMW motorcyclist and crafty engineer, decided to get to work making one for himself.

What began as a personal solution quickly turned into a cult classic. As Kermit traveled to BMW rallies, fellow riders noticed the elegant, compact design of his chair. Demand grew through word-of-mouth, and the Kermit Chair Company was born.

In 2003, as Kermit looked toward retirement, Tom Sherrill acquired the company—not as a corporate buyer, but a fellow enthusiast and rider who understood the chair's DNA. Tom moved production to the Nashville, Tennessee area, where it remains a family-run operation to this day...
